PATIENTS:

Before contacting a doctor, please take NovaVision’s online screening test to confirm that you can perform VRT and understand what the therapy entails. After this has been completed, call NovaVision to learn where to go for an evaluation and prescription.

You (or your doctor) may find someone who can prescribe VRT by entering your search criteria to find a doctor in the NovaVision Physician Directory, by visiting an Advanced Care Center or by asking the neuro-ophthalmologist, ophthalmologist, optometrist, neurologist, or physiatrist who has been responsible for his or her care.

Please consider three points when selecting a doctor or center to visit:

1. You will need a recent comprehensive eye exam which includes a visual field test that maps the area of your vision loss, as well as other special tests. If the you have not had a recent eye exam, we recommend seeing an ophthalmologist or optometrist for the exam and VRT prescription. Remember to bring the VRT vision exam form with you.

2. Unless the you decide to go to an Advanced Care Center, you are expected to be able to get started with testing at home without assistance from a medical professional. Securing the help of a loved one or caretaker should be appropriate for most patients; for more information, see Advanced Care Centers.

3. Many healthcare professionals are currently unaware of VRT or how to restore vision due to stroke or brain injury.

Regardless of who you choose, you are encouraged to speak with your doctor about VRT so that they are informed.

If you are a potential VRT patient who would like to discuss VRT with the doctors responsible for your care, you can download our physician brochure, and direct your doctors to visit Diagnosis/Prescription.
